Judicial-Legal Council Holds Its Regular Meeting

On April 28 2026, the Judicial-Legal Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan held its regular meeting.

Opening the meeting, the Chairman of the Judicial-Legal Council, Mr. Inam Karimov, provided an overview of the measures undertaken to further improve the administration of justice in line with contemporary challenges and to enhance the efficiency of the judiciary. He also outlined the Council’s key priorities and objectives for the period ahead.

During the meeting, the Council discussed a number of draft documents prepared by the Secretariat of the Judicial-Legal Council and its working groups concerning the functioning of the judiciary. The Draft Rules on the Conduct of Court Monitoring in the Courts of the Republic of Azerbaijan were approved.

The Council subsequently heard a presentation by Mr. Sanan Hajiyev, Member of the Judicial-Legal Council and Head of the Working Group on the Analysis of the Efficiency of Justice in Civil and Commercial Matters, who reported on civil and commercial cases currently suspended before the courts of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The members of the Council were also briefed by Mr. Ahliman Khidirov, Chair of the Judges’ Evaluation Committee, on the ongoing process of judicial performance evaluation.

The meeting further considered a number of personnel matters, including the election of a member to the Judicial Selection Committee, as well as disciplinary proceedings concerning judges. Relevant decisions were adopted on all items discussed.
