Member of the Judicial-Legal Council, Chairman of the Sumgayit Court of Appeal participated in an international conference in Uzbekistan

On October 2-3 of this year, in the city of Tashkent, the official opening ceremony of the Justice Academy of Uzbekistan was held, organized by the Supreme Judicial Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Justice Academy of Uzbekistan. The event also featured an international conference titled "The Formation of a Highly Qualified Corps of Judges in the New Uzbekistan: Efficiency of Reforms and Development Prospects."

Tofiq Pashayev, a member of the Judicial-Legal Council and Chairman of the Sumgayit Court of Appeal, participated at the event.

During the opening ceremony, the Academy building was presented to attendees, and information was provided about the Academy’s history, the training hall for court simulations, and the lecture rooms.

Discussions were held on topics such as the national and international systems for forming a qualified corps of judges, international cooperation in training specialized personnel for the judiciary, and international standards for assembling a professional judicial corp.

Tofiq Pashayev provided detailed information to the participants about recent reforms in Azerbaijan’s judicial-legal system, the enhancement of the functional capabilities of the “Electronic Court” information system, improvements in digital transformation management, the development of new rules and methodologies for evaluating judges’ performance, as well as improved regulatory frameworks for selecting candidates for vacant judge positions. He also spoke about the monitoring of labor and disciplinary enforcement conditions in courts. Additionally, he discussed efforts made in approving new formats for judicial statistics, taking into account recommendations from international organizations, and shared positive experiences and achievements in this area.

It was emphasized at the conference that the exchange of knowledge and experience would be beneficial for improving the Azerbaijani judicial system.
