Azerbaijani Delegation Participated in the International Conference “Women in the Judicial Justice System: Dialogue, Development and Justice” Held in Tajikistan

On 15–16 July 2026, an international conference entitled “Women in the Judicial Justice System: Dialogue, Development and Justice” was held in Dushanbe, the capital of the Republic of Tajikistan, under the organisation of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The judicial system of the Republic of Azerbaijan was represented at the conference by Ms. Nigar Nabizada, Judge of the Baku Court of Appeal, and Ms. Rubaba Gafarova, Judge of the Surakhani District Court of Baku.

During the conference, participants exchanged views and experiences on a wide range of issues, including the development of gender-responsive justice, digitalisation of the judiciary, ensuring access to justice for vulnerable persons, adjudication of cases involving discrimination and gender-based violence, as well as strengthening the professional capacity of women judges.

As part of the conference programme, Ms. Nigar Nabizada, Judge of the Baku Court of Appeal, delivered a presentation entitled “Impartiality Without Indifference: The Modern Role of a Judge in Cases Involving Vulnerable Persons.” In her address, she highlighted issues related to ensuring access to justice for vulnerable persons, the practical application of the principle of impartiality, procedural equality, the impact of stereotypes on judicial decision-making, as well as the legislation and judicial practice of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
