A representative of the Judicial-Legal Council visited the Portuguese Republic

As part of the project “Promotion of Mediation in Azerbaijan,” a delegation consisting of representatives of the Judicial-Legal Council, the Ministries of Justice and Foreign Affairs, and the Mediation Council paid a visit to the Portuguese Republic.

Samad Jafarov, Judge of the Baku Court of Appeal and member of the Judges Evaluation Committee, took part in the event.

During the trip, meetings were held at the Ministry of Justice of Portugal, and the delegation also became acquainted with the activities of the Lisbon Arbitration Centre for Consumer Conflicts and the Lisbon Peace Court.

At the meetings, the delegation was briefed on the functioning of the peace courts and arbitration centers, as well as on the reforms carried out in the field of alternative dispute resolution.

Presentations were made on the selection procedures for peace judges and mediators, the rules of operation of peace courts, and the innovations implemented in these areas. Questions from the delegation members were also answered.

Detailed information was provided about the judicial and legal reforms implemented in Azerbaijan, including the work done in the field of alternative dispute resolution, the existing positive experience, and the achievements gained in this sphere.
