"Rules for the Selection of Candidates for Vacant Judicial Positions" have been revised and approved

The process of selecting candidates for judges at a high level of demand is on process in order to increase the efficiency of justice, including the representation of the worthiest lawyers in the judicial corps.

As is known, according to the amendment made to the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Courts and Judges" on November 7, 2024, the number of selection stages has been reduced from 4 to 3. According to the amendment, the selection of candidates for the position of judge will be carried out on the basis of a test exam, written exam and interview.

Based on the amendments made to the law, the "Rules for the Selection of Candidates for Vacant Judicial Positions" were revised, approved by the Decision of the Judicial and Legal Council, and included in the State Register of Legal Acts of the Republic of Azerbaijan on August 14, 2025.

Also, in order to help candidates prepare for the exams perfectly, an updated "Memory Booklet for Candidates for the Position of Judge" has been posted on the jlc.gov.az website, which includes an annotation on exam questions, as well as exam rules, candidates' responsibilities related to the exam, and examples of exam questions.

At the same time, it is reported that the acceptance of documents from candidates for judges is in process, and more than 250 candidates have already submitted their documents to participate in the test exam to be held on September 21, 2025. Considering the limited number of places, the Judges' Selection Committee invites those who wish to become judges to participate more actively in the competition.
