A chess tournament dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev was held

On May 9 2026, the Supreme Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Judicial-Legal Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the Azerbaijan Union of Judges jointly organized a chess tournament dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of the birth of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev. The tournament brought together judges and court staff from across the judiciary.

The tournament was conducted under the Swiss system with the participation of 36 competitors. Based on the final standings, Mr. Ilgar Damirov, Judge of the Sumgayit Court of Appeal, secured first place, Mr. Vugar Guliyev, Judge of the Baku Grave Crimes Court, finished second, and Mr. Rashad Hasanov, Judge of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan, placed third.

At the conclusion of the event, the winners were presented with trophies, medals, and certificates of merit in recognition of their achievements.
