Judges Participated in a Study Visit to Türkiye

The Judicial-Legal Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Justice Academy of the Ministry of Justice continue to implement initiatives aimed at enhancing judges’ professional knowledge and promoting the study of foreign judicial systems and best practices.

From 7 to 12 June 2026, 34 judges who had been appointed for the first time to various first-instance courts pursuant to the Presidential Order of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 3 March 2026 participated in a study visit to Istanbul, Republic of Türkiye. The delegation also included Mr. Zahid Mammadov, Member of the Selection Committee of Judges and Presiding Judge of the Commercial Chamber of the Sumgayit Court of Appeal, as well as representatives of the Judicial-Legal Council and the Justice Academy.

During the training programme held at the Justice Academy of the Republic of Türkiye, Turkish judges delivered lectures on the Turkish legal system, the status of judges, the functioning of specialised courts, and the roles and responsibilities of the judiciary and prosecution authorities.

As part of the visit, the delegation toured the courts operating within the Istanbul Justice Palace, where they familiarised themselves with the organisation of judicial work and the facilities available.

The programme also included visits to Türkiye’s historical landmarks and major tourist attractions, with the aim of promoting cultural exchange, broadening the participants’ perspectives, and contributing to their overall professional development.
