The Minister of Justice Fikrat Mammadov met with the Ambassador of the United States of America to our country Mr. Orl Litzenberger.
The minister, stressing that Azerbaijan gives great importance to cooperation with the USA and these relations cover different directions, told about the legal cooperation, informed about judicial-legal reforms made under the leadership of the President Ilham Aliyev, including electron court application, the most transparent election and training of the judges, as well as noted the participation of the US Embassy to our country in the realized events.
O. Litzenberger stressed that, the development between two countries and intensification of the visits is one of the important priorities, noting the investment interest of the USA in Azerbaijan, he said that he was a witness of significant steps in this field and was interested in the judicial-legal reforms.
The exclusive significance of the Decree of the head of state “On deepening of the reforms in the judicial-legal system” on April 3, 2019 was noted during the debate and there was told about the works on execution of this important document.
The Ambassador, approving the Decree of the Azerbaijan President, noted that, the execution of this Decree will serve for increase of public belief to the courts, efficiency of justice and transparency of judicial system. He noted an important role of the Ministry of Justice in provision of the Law’s superiority and expressed his will to continue the effective mutual activity.
There was also made exchange of ideas on the themes of improvement of legislation, maintenance of human rights, execution of court decisions, registration issues and other concrete subjects, and the cooperation perspectives were discussed.
