On June 3, The Minister of Justice, Chairman of Judicial-Legal Council Fikrat Mammadov met Vice-Chair of the Group of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe at the European Parliament, Eastern Partnership rapporteur for Azerbaijan Norica Nicolai and member of the European Parliament Iveta Grigule, who visited Azerbaijan.
At the meeting emphasized that Azerbaijan is open to impartial cooperation with European structures and informed on the reforms implemented in Azerbaijan, including measures taken on the strengthening the independence of judiciary, most transparent selection of judges that appreciated as an example by the European Union and the Council of Europe and achievements obtained on modernization of the judicial infrastructure.
European Parliament representatives expressed their intention on improving the relations with Azerbaijan and noted that they are informed on the reforms implemented in Azerbaijan. Having touched to the existing problems in the judicial activity in European area, they appreciated purposeful measures of Azerbaijan in this field.
Efficient exchange of views was conducted on the priorities of cooperation and other issues, questions of interest were clarified during the conversation.
